PORTLIGHT
(Documentary Feature Film - In development)
Marina tries to trace, along with her father Daniel, a shared memory that reconstructs a bond shaped by a life at sea and a upbringing on solid ground. The starting point is twofold: Daniel begins to navigate his retirement from the ships where he spent most of his life; and, on the other hand, his personal archive of records made from 1982 to the present is shared with his children.
How is memory inscribed on land and at sea; what are its smallest units? How do we get to know a father anew, now on solid ground? How do we store our shared time and our time apart?
